So don't be late, bring up a snack and water, we will be going non stop for the entire time. Thanks,Coach Drew

Hey everyone, great job in training today, there was some good skiing by all of you. Yes there are still some things we need to work on, I hope each of you knows as you should what your focuses are, whether it's moving those hips into your initiation and turn, allowing that inside ski to follow the lead of the outside ski (Patrick), leveling the shoulder (Maiaja) or squaring the upper body through turn (Ravi), or bring those hands out in front of our body more generating more forward pressure to the ski (Erin) but it's all starting to come together. Over the next few weekends the focus for the J3's is going to be mainly gs/ open gs, seeing as how we have the super g in a few weeks. Tomorrow it is supposed to snow all day so make sure you dress for the weather, and come with your game faces on.See you all tomorrow,Drew

Weekend at park city 2/11-2/12

To all of my J3's that were at Park City this weekend, great job. Although the course especially on Sunday got the best of some of us, with the near two foot high berms and the sopping wet snow, all of you definatley showed everyone one there what the Brighton ski team can bring to the table, taking home 2 second place finishes by Zack. This Tuesday night, plan on taking it easy, with free skiing and some drills. During the week, I would like for each of you to take a look at the videos of each of your runs and critique yourselves, not with a negative view, but instead with a more open eye, seeing the positives in all of your abilities and also focusing in on where in the turn, initiation, apex needs adjustment. Whether it is moving into the new turn earlier, having a straighter/ rounder line, squaring the upper body, or simply getting stronger on the outside edge, be open to noticing these flaws. If you would like, you can call me with any questions, comments or concerns that you may have.See you all Tuesday Night,Coach Drew

A brief summary of the Park City South Series Sunday
Well, if there ISN'T a puddle forming under your jacket as it dries out, you didn't have enough fun in the wet, wet snow... be sure to dry everything out, including your goggles, throw them over a heat vent so the water vapor gets out from between the lenses! It was a WET day!
  • Zach took home another silver medal, two for the weekend! Great job, Zach!
  • Ella went to the hospital and has a fractured humerus (near the elbow), which is NOT very humorous, as it turns out. Jason was right at the gate when she crashed, and Han was on the knoll near Becky, so he ran up to be with her while they got a sled ready. She will not need pins, and will get a hard cast in two weeks. She says "Hi!" to all of her teammates, coaches, and the parents who are sending positive thoughts her way. Ella is a strong little girl who will bounce back quickly.
  • We had a few J5's give the South Series a try today for the first or second time, great job!
  • Our PARENTS are awesome, bringing the tents and tables again. THANK YOU for keeping us somewhat dry and collected. If anyone took home an extra pair of black pants, they are Isaiah's. He had them at the bottom, but alas, they did not end up in his vehicle!

A Summary of our Results of the Brighton YSL:
Our team really shined on their home mountain, and our volunteers are the BEST in the WASATCH! Great results were had by all, some of the highlights are:

J4's
Lyndsey and Chris were really amazed, great effort, guys!
Aspen placed 12th, just missing the medals with a great run
Abby placed 13th, right behind Aspen, with a BIG smile on her face the whole way
KyAnn completed her second race ever, placing 18th, with courage
Summer brought home a Silver medal, placing 2nd
Isaiah had a GREAT run going, but that last little compression proved to be bigger than anticipated, but his top section would have had him bringing home a medal for sure!

J5's
Jason and Lyndsey are really impressed with everyone's skiing! Holy cow!
Connor D just missed the medals by two places, he placed 12th, great job!
Owen had a GREAT run going until he got caught with a LOT of speed. We hope to see him through the finish line soon when get puts it all together! His run looked great!
Sydney got caught by "the hole" and was bounced right out of the course :(
Madison and Elena proved to be good teammates to the end, placing 27 and 26 respectively, together, in their second race
Kate placed 20th and decided she wanted to race again!
Mia placed 18th and then hiked the hill to her parents a few times
Anna placed 16th, her best result yet!
Peyton placed 14th, just out of the medals, great job
Savannah took home an 8th place medal with a great run!
Megan surprised everyone, including herself, with the fastest time on the course and a First Place medal. Amazing.

J6's
Eric is proud! 2 of his 5 little racers brought home some hardware to Brighton! And no DQ's!
Kylie had a GREAT little run and placed 8th
Brandon skied his little heart out and placed 31st
Liam  showed his carving skills and placed 14th
Ezra  JUST MISSED a medal, placing 11th with his FAST run
Connor S surprised everyone, as the only 6 year old in the race to get a medal, placing 6th, and 22 overall for the boys, not too shabby for a little dude who still sometimes needs a nap (but don't tell him we said that)
